Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in Basel (Switzerland)

On Saturday, 21 September 2013 Basel has been celebrating its fourth Mid-Autumn festival (Mooncake Festival, Mondfest), the anniversary of Basel’s city partnership with Shanghai and the opening of The Confucius Institute at the University of Basel.

Visitor had the opportunity to enjoy Chinese culinary specialties, get their names written with the beautiful Chinese calligraphy, listen to the sounds of Chinese music and have a look to different kind of spectacles (dance, Taiji/Qigong, lion and dragon dance and more).

This year the Festival 2013 was organized by ‘China-Basel’ and several Chinese associations from the region and language school presented their program and gave entertainment.

The President of the Government, Dr. Guy Morin, together with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Xu Jinghu, officially opened the Basel Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 with the official mooncake ceremony.
