La Géode in Paris

geode de paris

I took this photo at the biginning of December during my short visit to Paris.

This incredible construction is placed  in the “Parc de la Villette” at the Cité des Sciences et de lIndustrie (City of Science and Industry) in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France.

La Géode (geodisic dome) is 36 metres (118 ft) in diameter and it is composed of 6,433 polished stainless steel triangles that form the sphere that reflects the sky.

La Géode is movies there where movies are projected in IMAX format on a giant hemispherical screen that covers 1,000 square metres (11,000 sq ft).

I was there in morning and almost nobody was around, an amazing impression as in a science fiction movie!

Paris from the Rooftop at the Galeries Lafayette

Tour Eifel from Galeries Lafayettess artDo you want to find the best viewpoints in Paris? There are many  good places from where you can admire Paris almost form the sky.

Form the top deck of the Eiffel Tower you can see most of the city’s famed landmarks, From  Montparnasse Tower (one of Paris’ only skyscrapers) you will enjoy a breathtaking panorama and from Arc de Triomphe you will see not only the Eiffel Tower but also the Avenue des Champs-Elysees and the Tuileries Gardens.

Today I will propose you an alternative: the terrace of the Galeries Lafayette. It’s an amazing viewpoint! It’s very simple and easy, no waiting timne, you need only to visit this wonderful department store (don’t miss it!) and enjoy the great view from the roof terrrace .

In summertime there is a rooftop café there as well!

Shop-Window in Paris by Dior (Christmas 2012)

Paris presents itself with spectacular Christmas windows at the Printemps and Galeries Lafayette department stores.

The reflections in the shop windows of the opposite buildings seem to take part of the decoration placing Christian Dior’s dolls in a dreamland in the real Paris.
